Muhurat for Yajna and Fire Sacrifice
Scriptures mention
that offerings in fire sacrifice or Yajnas have an auspicious effect on
us. These offerings give strength and power to Gods. In other words,
these offerings are food for Gods. And if they get impressed, they will
shower their blessings on us. You must have read about the struggle of
Devasur. When the demons defeated the Lords, they had their control on
Yajnas, so that they could lessen the power of Lords.
This is also called
Havan. The auspicious effect of Havan or Yajna on a person is of immense
value. Nature also gets benefited by the Mantras spoken during Havan,
the fire and the smoke arising out of a Yajna purifies the air and it
has been proved scientifically.
According to
beliefs, the offerings in the fire sacrifice or Yajnas reach the Lords
in their entire form. These offerings make the Lords happy. As a result,
one who performs a Yajna, his/her desires come true.
According to
Astrologers, the Yajnas should not be performed in an inauspicious
Muhurat if they are dedicated to Lords. Therefore, whenever you are
planning to perform Yajnas or fire sacrifice you must consider an
auspicious Muhurat.

obtain it:
Analysis of Aayan for Yajna Muhurat
Before the
assessment of Nakshatra, you should analyze the Aayan for Yajna or fire
sacrifice. The motion of the Sun is called Aayan.
Uttarayan is
considered auspicious. When Sun moves from the southern celestial
hemisphere to the northern celestial hemisphere in the north direction,
then it is termed as Uttarayan motion. Uttarayan is considered the day
of Lords and Dakshinayan is when the sun moves towards southern
hemisphere from northern celestial hemisphere, considered as the night
of the Lords. (Hence, it is the most ideal to perform Yajna in
Uttarayan)
Analysis of Nakshatra for Yajna Muhurat
Selecting Nakshatra is the next step in finding Muhurta for the Yajna. When you start Yajna in the Uttarayan direction, you should assess the Nakshatra. And if any one of the Nakshatras such as Vishakha, Kritika, Uttara Phalguni, Uttarashadha, Uttrabhdrapad, Rohini, Revti, Mrighshira, Jyeshtha, Pushya is present on the day of performing Yajna, then it will be auspicious.
Assessment of Ascendant for Yajna Muhurat
Yagna is a very
auspicious and pious deed and should be completed without any hindrance.
Ascendant is the most important factor that needs to be considered
while selecting the Muhurta for Yajna.
We also have to
consider an auspicious Muhurat for Ascendant to perform Yajnas. In this
concern when Cancer, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces signs are located
in the Ascendant of Navamsha, and Sun, Moon, Mars, and Mercury are
located in the first, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, ninth,
tenth, eleventh house, and the eighth house is vacant, then it forms an
auspicious Yoga to perform Yajnas.
Assessment of Tithis for Yajna Muhurat
In Astrology the fourth, ninth and fourteenth are Ritika Tithis. Therefore, you should not perform Yajnas in these Tithis. You can perform Yajnas in any Tithis other than Ritika Tithis.
Assessment of Planet for Yajna Muhurat
According to the principles of Astrology, Yajnas or fire sacrifice should not be performed on the day when Moon, Mars, Mercury, and Venus are debilitated or exalted. You should also avoid Bhadra tithis.
